it's actuali quite an interesting movie musical. talks about how this 2 girls[the papaya or '881' sisters]persue their dream to make it big in the annual 7th month 歌台 scene.
the front part about the 歌台s is damn farnie! i love all the bling bling colourful and fanciful costumes and catchy techno-ish hokkien songs. the characters such as the papaya's rivals[ang mo-ish durian sisters may&choy!] and the 歌台goddess are super farnie lah.
the later part is very very very sad.a very big contrast sia. so touching and sad how the story ended. *cries*~
overall its one of the best local productions i'ver watched. at least the jokes r not as lame and low-class as jack neo's and it was shot in a rather arty but understandable way. the theme is oso very singaporean-ish. no wonder my grandparents and parents[who don reali pay and go to the cinemas]find it a gd movie.lol~
